How do AI song composing and editing work?

From your description or plan, the composing models first lay out the song’s structure, then build the melody, harmony and instruments, and finally a singer performs the lyrics. In a section-by-section plan each part has its own length, style and lyrics; Suno and Lyria turn the plan into the lyrics and structure they sing, and Eleven Music follows the section timings exactly.
Editing with AI means the model works on the same song instead of making a new one. A section replace remakes only the range you choose and joins it to what comes before and after; extending continues the song from the point you set, in the same mood; and separation turns the vocals and each instrument into its own file to rebuild in the mixer. These tools run on Suno and are available while that model is offered.
A good song description
Name the genre, instruments, tempo, mood and singer: “calm Persian pop, piano and violin, 90 bpm, male singer”. One precise sentence beats a vague paragraph.
A plan with lyrics
Build at least three sections: verse, chorus and bridge. Write each section’s lyrics apart, and make the chorus a little shorter and more energetic.
Fix a section instead of starting over
If only one line or chorus is off, replace that range (at least 10 seconds, at most half the song) with new lyrics; the rest of the song stays.
Separation for mixing and remixing
Removing vocals gives two files: vocals and music. Splitting every instrument gives up to 12 stems. Stems appear in the library and mixer to rebuild, or to sing new vocals over the music.
Personas for a consistent voice
Make a persona from 10–30 seconds of clear singing in a Suno song and use it in later songs written as a plan, so the singer is the same in all of them.
